No rose can flourish without fertile soil, pure water, and gentle light. Likewise, no artistic dream can come true without perseverance, kindness, and unshakable belief.
For Hà Anh Tuấn, Sketch A Rose is exactly that — a dream deeply rooted in conviction, carefully nurtured through the years.
The concert series is inspired by the play Believe in the Rose by the late Vietnamese playwright Lưu Quang Vũ. It carries a humble yet powerful message: after the storm, the roses still bloom; goodness still prevails — if we choose to hold on to belief until the very end.
“Seek out the positive. Move closer to those who may seem small, because great stories often begin there.” — Hà Anh Tuấn
“Sketch A Rose” Began Its First Three Chapters In Singapore, Sydney, And Vietnam
The journey began in the summer of 2024 at Esplanade Concert Hall in Singapore, where more than 20,000 roses were brought in from Vietnam to decorate the stage. Two sold-out nights welcomed 3,200 guests, with performances by Phan Mạnh Quỳnh, Vũ., and Trần Duy Khang (Chillies).
Three months later, Sketch A Rose made its way to the Sydney Opera House — a dream venue for artists worldwide. With 60,000 roses and 80 crates of production gear transported from Vietnam, the one-night-only show was a cultural milestone. Guest artists Thu Phương and Hoàng Dũng joined Hà Anh Tuấn on stage. In a heartfelt gesture, he donated 500 million VND on behalf of the audience to Blue Dragon, a charity supporting vulnerable children in Vietnam.
In March 2025, the concert returned home to Ho Chi Minh City with two emotionally charged nights. More than 20,000 attendees came together with world-renowned pianist Yiruma, pop legend Lam Trường, and rising star Quang Hùng MasterD, alongside 150 artists. A portion of the proceeds — 4 billion VND — was donated to Chồi Việt Nam, a program supporting children orphaned by COVID-19 until adulthood. It was music with purpose, in every sense of the word.
